Attack Dog Training

Rusty is a ball of energy. Non-stop on the go and desperate to sink his teeth into almost anything! Though not in an aggressive killer way. It is simply what he is bread, and trained to do. It is his calling.

Rusty has a lovely personality, playful at times, serious most times. He is a pack leader and so asserts his status when it is necessary within his pack. When he comes to say hello he mouths your hand with his teeth. It is gentle but strange to experience. You feel his sharp teeth against your fragile skin, and get a sense of the damage even just a little snap would do.

So, it was time to get suited up in full protective body gear and go through drills with Rusty's trainer, Kiss Gábor, who has trained Rusty in commands that are in French, Hungarian, and Roma Gypsy languages. This in itself makes for an interesting experience. It takes a few sessions before you know what is going to happen.

Rusty's attacks are calculated, rapid, and strong. His bite is powerful and I dread to think of the damage it would cause without protective clothing. He does exactly what his trainer tells him, and when he is told, despite the obvious excitement that emanates from Rusty. The temptation to deviate from the task must be great, but he does not. He does his job very well. Listening to the instructions and executing the moves. You can see the satisfaction that Rusty is getting as he bites hard into my legs and arms (again, I thank you suit). Rusty has been trained to attack deeper upon first grip. To go deeper into the wound that would be created, so that he has his grip from right at the back of his mouth to his front teeth. A full grip. There is however no aggression or sense that Rusty wants to do harm to me. He is not looking to hurt me, and I don't feel like I am actually being attacked, certainly not by an angry dog. I am part of the task he has been given to do. Rusty is simply doing his job.

Regardless of Rusty's intent, the attack would be deadly if not for the suit. And, I wouldn't expect him to hold back if the suit was not on. I wonder what he would do if his mouth filled up with blood, and his 'prey' sank to the floor with only minutes left to live??? He'd surely be pissed that his training was cut short.
